Have you tried fishing before? If you have time, you should try doing this outdoor activity during your holiday. Yes, it takes a little patience, but reeling a line with fish biting the bait really pays the wait. Here are some basic steps you can do for your first fishing experience.
Choose a location.
Decide where to fish. Make sure to fish where it actually has fish in it, you don’t want to get home empty handed don’t you? Find information about fishing spots in your town and choose one you prefer. Find out what kind of fish available there, what they’re biting on and when is the perfect time to fish.
Choose your bait and hooks
Find what kind of fish you are going to fish and what they eat, then you can decide which bait is the best. You need hooks that will fit into the fish’s mouth. Ask your local tackle shop about the hook sizing system. The smaller the hook, the bigger the chances it’ll get bitten by the fish. And so does the line, the thinner the line, the more result it will get. Fish eat insects and other aquatic life, therefore you can choose one from millions effective baits. You can choose worms, salmon eggs, grasshoppers, shrimp, liver, bacon, or synthetic baits. If you have plenty of baits, start feeding some bait around the place you wants to fish to attract fish. Then you can fish there.
Choose the appropriate bait fishing method
Where you fish also influence what bait fishing method is the best. When you are about to fishing in quite swift water like in a small river or stream, put some weight to your bait. By doing so, your bait will keep in place some inch below the water. But if you fish in quiet water like a lake or large slow river, use a bobber. Bobber is fishing equipment which shape looks like a little balloon often bright colored.
Cast your line
Cast your line and wait for a bite. Sit and relax, wait for a stroke on your line. It may take some time, and yes it needs a little patience, and that’s what fishing is all about. When you got a bite, make sure with a slow movement of the rod that there is no more slack in the line when you try to hook the fish. Feeding around your bait will increase the chance of your bait get bitten, it produces bites much quicker.
Hook the catch
If you feel something hit your bait, give your fishing rod a quick jerk backward and up. If it really is a fish, it will fight back and bring your line following the movement of the fish. Pull the fish by pumping and lifting the rod vertically while keep reeling. Keep the line tight to give the fish no chance to throw the hook out of its mouth.
Get the fish
Use the net to get the fish, it helps not to let the fish fall out the bait and have an escape.
